Nostalgia matched with a current recollection.

Recently, today and appropriately today came across a recording of old Saturday morning cartoons from 2001. Nearly 20 years ago and the world was different then. There were no comic book movies yet really besides maybe that one Spideman movie. The Ultimate Marvel comics line had probably just begun. Around this that time in 2001, I did read those comics before they became the basis for the modern MCU movies. That is to be said it was also the time before the Iraq war at least until September.  Alas, life was just beginning for many people who would define the generation of the 2000s. Very much people of this generation only really became mature until  2013 when people headed off to college like me to even recognize their lives and how they had lived.

I look back on these cartoons and realize that really Saturday mornings were a very looked forward to thing in your childhood even though at time they played cartoons on the weekdays. Yet but usually you would not be home by the time the cartoons aired  because of school. And really then they played cartoons that were actually high quality in animation and diverse in capabilities and characters. Everything was not the same with the same art style as you will see on Cartoon Network today. The modern scene of cartoons has it great spots but its troubling to look 20 years into the future and see much of everything is in a carbon copy manufacturing line.

The collection in the video below includes Cubix, Card Captor, Jackie Chan Adventures, Max Steel, this forgotten mini series called Invasion America. None of these ideas are even remotely the same or even have the same comedy structure if comedy even exists. I feel somewhat saddened that Jackie Chan Adventures made 20 years ago has better action and animated scenes than the cartoons you can find on Cartoon Network. today and just how vilified the medium of cartoons has solely become belittled to "catering to kids" as if all they enjoy is mindless comedy, haunty political messages from adults and bad art styles. Invasion America itself was a cartoon that was featured as a special at nightime on WB( which is today CW) but yet really much there have not been cartoons on tv but the adult comedy ones. Though some people can argue because of streaming that people don't need a station or stations that show cartoons anymore but really that argument would be illogical. Just because there is news offered on streaming platforms, do local news stations just quit? Of course, they don't because they need the jobs.

In a time where studios are closing like Blue Sky Studios; its pretty much a reminder when watching these Saturday morning cartoons and their aspirations that everything that was ventured in experimentation went no where. The borders may have expanded up until 2009 with Saturday Morning cartoons but completely shuttered in 2013. Everything is just getting more complacent and more closed and who can even create a show-or animation is severely limited by how many people can even have jobs with the lowering number of animation studios. Seriously shutter at the idea that this time period in 2001, was when Marvel comics weren't apart of Disney and Disney was not as destructive to diversity as it is today; but now it seems like Disney which bought Blue Sky Studios will ruin animation's freedom and diversity and just eliminate many jobs from the industry itself.
