RWBY volume 7. ep.12
Now, I can say easily this episode was a long redemption that finally found a voice to be the show people actually came to RWBY for in the past. The action scenes and the sharp and yet witty story that is ultimately surprising and good in the fact that it makes sense. The show has had several redeeming points since the fourth volume where a noticeable drop in the quality of the story occurred for unforeseen circumstances since the original creator of the series died. The 4th volume conclusion was something that kept the show going of course. The fight with the Knucklegreeve gave us, the viewer-a backstory into Ren and Nora's pasts. The 5th volume ending subjectively had to fighting scenes yet only the last inner most one was ever of great focus of what the show seemed to capitalize or rather the scene where Raven fights Cinder and we assume Cinder has been killed. The 6th volume itself was a redemption of the adventure side of the story of RWBY up until Ozpin's terrible secret was revealed and the main characters acted like brats( which ergo would come to haunt them-there is a major why the secret was kept because such information corrupts people like Ironwood who only seek theirselves as the means to any solution and never consider empathy onto anyone else not in their leadership role).
The redeeming part of volume 6 was not Ruby using her eyes to kill the grim like Jason does the sea creature with Medusa's head in Greek Mythology. No, the redeeming part of volume 6 was the back story behind the scythe that Ruby and Qrow use and the huntress who originally used the weapon and they meet. Another pivotal point was more focus on Pyrrha Nikos' loss to the characters of her team and that story introduced a family relative or someone who might be vital to the overall story or not going forward. No, Blake and Yang killing Adam Tarus was the most waste of a character not a pivotal redeeming point even if it provides character development for Blake and Yang in volume 7. The ending of volume 6 tried to seem as if the character people went for original and was close but not as such. A pivotal point was not the ending but the overall set up for it that was very much in the sharp and yet thrilling style of story that RWBY fans had come for in the start. The ending of the volume 6 played out well and better than the 5th overall and gave some hope for a better next volume. In overall, its too early to tell if volume 7 is overall a good volume because its not yet over but by ep 12, the show RWBY has redeem itself and advanced it characters and the story is better than ever.It has been redeemed.
Now, where we last left off from ep. 11, Ruby's team was going to fight the ace ops. So basically as well, Ruby herself of the name sake of "R" in team RWBY sent out a message of Ironwood's betrayal and how he is basically going to leave everyone for dead for the sake of the safety of the Winter Maiden and the relics. This goes so terrible for Qrow, Robyn and the Ace Op leader( I think is called Bow )in which that it complicates ever bring Tyrrion, the scorpion fanus to justice. Immediately the Ace Op Leader is blatantly stupid in a conviction behind Ironwood's objectives and says that he is going to take Qrow in because Ruby and her friends who traveled with her all this time are now criminals despite saving people in the city. Tyrrion is already objectively knowing he can escape. Qrow tries to stop Robyn from fighting Bow, the ace op leader even though Bow says that Robyn is not under arrest( well because she is going to die trying to save everyone from the grim). Tyrrion eggs them on and here it cements how stupid Ironwood's actions truly are and how Ruby and her friends were stupid in ever telling Ironwood the truth. Because here, the truth literally enabled an already overwhelming controlling character to assume more rational to his wrong actions. Actions that commit destruction for everyone.Destruction for everyone and I mean that , and this is only the beginning because Tyrrion escapes somehow his holds they have him in and he takes over the self driving air vehicle and crashes it. This only because they fought in the air vehicle because of Ironwood's controlling brash decisions that some might consider genocidal and justly is. Bow jumps out and kind of signifies how much an utter ass this character is.
Talking about asses, the Ace ops are all about that and rather let everyone die than do what is right to save them all. There is a marvelous fight that redeems pretty much of the bad fight scenes in the past and it matches well with the story too. Basically each and everyone of the ace ops is very indignant and it takes combos and great movements for team RWBY to take them down. To clarify how morally wrong the Ace ops are, they argue whether to kill team RWBY or keep them alive and especially the muscular woman aims to kill them. The fight begins with Ruby fighting the quick lady who says to Ruby that their team does not stand a chance. Ruby simply counters, " your mistake was teaching us" Or something like that, it was awesome. It kicked off this fight and yet it was a furious fight and not a one sided fight. Each side took hits but team RWBY was the one to make them count and I am to tell you that if these former allies, the ace ops showed their true colors then they did. Some redeemingly aiming to greatly harm their former allies and much to the effect team RWBY countered with very hard tactics and moves to put these people out who could be considered mad dogs at a point of aiding a homicidal leader to kill off their own people. Once everyone is put down and down for the count, team RWBY is greeted by Maria and that guy who created Penny who actually came to help them.
Jaune,Ren and Nora go to look for Oscar and Nora encounters Oscar with the relic but its Neo. "Neapolitan", Nora speaks. The relic is regained and the stage is set for a fight. Neo pouts or seems to, as she did not seem to even want to be there.
Next; Penny and Winter argue about the morals of killing the Winter maiden. I am not going to go into detail about it but truly it parallels the third volume except the maiden is not in a life threatened circumstance and while the whole city is going to fall like in the previous story-it is reflective that a whole process of the powers of the maiden being transferred is basically like killing a person who is just old and nothing more. Further more reflective of what cruel contingencies Ironwood developed since the fall of Beacon and that he had gone past the moral gray line into the dark. In the previous episode when the maiden is revealed to be kept in a room for Winter to become the maiden, we are to assume it will happen naturally and while that is wrong there would be no machines to grab the power of the maiden. We think the contingencies of Ironwood are more moral than they were at the fall of Beacon( as a sign of a moral improvement) but they are worse.Ironwood has basically set up the same solution but this time, the maiden is not a comatose life-threatened woman who essentially could be said in a state of pain and only kept alive by machines; the maiden is an old woman who is just old and essentially probably kept there without her will. And yet here she is like a soda can in a vending machine for that maiden power that Ironwood wants. As Penny and Winter arrive, the woman is asleep in the machine. " she won't feel anything" Winter soothes not Penny but the situation in which she is about to kill an old woman who does still have alot of time to live.
Cinder arrives however and the old woman awakes in a way that represents how much she is either unaware of her surroundings or just being kept against her will and yet not able to do anything for herself. It is one of the most creepy things in this show. Winter is scared pikachu the whole time. Penny remembers her and states " that you are the one.." Cinder agrees that she is the one that destroyed her the last time and that "this time there would be nothing to salvage". The scene ends with Penny arching for a fight, " I take offense to that" Or something along those lines but it shows that Penny has feelings and really wants to get revenge on Cinder for what she did. A great battle is set up.
I am to say that at the crash site of the air vehicle, it is the dawn of a new day. A battle erupts after Qrow checks that Robyn is still alive. Of course, it is with his pal Bow who won't stop fighting him and it escalates when Tyrrion escapes and aids Qrow at first just jumping into Qrow and Bow's fight. But why?( spoilers incoming-don't read past here if you don't want to know the ending).
So that when Qrow lets go of his scythe is sword form to not harm Bow but punch him when he is open, Tyrrion grabs his sword and stabs Bow to death or straight through him. Qrow threatens to kill Tyrrion and Tyrrion reveals he has framed Qrow for murder. The air vehicles from Atlas are approaching or an air vehicle is approach by this time. Tyrrion takes off and Qrow goes after him but goes to Bow who is dying.
Bow had explained that he would follow Ironwood to great conviction of his life, and yet reasons that he made a mistake. Qrow says, " don't worry, I will make Ironwood pay" In this scene you can just see that the "gay coupling" thing was not really what was wished to be aspired at all this season, but a sum of brother hood and companionship of two people in arms. That is what can be concluded in this season on how Qrow is like by his side. The episode ends basically capitalizing Ironwood as the enemy and the real lose gun because Ruby and pals let off the secret about Salem and her not being able to die when he was not trustworthy from the get go or rather from the time of the fall of Beacon to the attack on Atlas, he overall had become an evil person. What can happen in the next episode who can know.
But the return of a hype question of "what happens next?" and/ or excitement gives for a better premise of reception for RWBY in the future where people have solely been let down by past decisions. Moreso, hype increases for a better next episode which can only mean one thing-the current RWBY has gained back its presence of character to entice a good story with sharpness and quirk.
Mistake-Bow is Clover. Clover is Bow. My bad.
