Fall 2013 week 2
**Day 8: Comic Inspirations**
Dear Diary,
We spent the evening diving into our favorite comics for inspiration. Blake brought his stash of indie graphic novels, and Spy shared his collection of noir classics. Josh talked about how “Duby Duby” is loosely based on his life—just with exaggerated quirks for comedy.
Lilly suggested we read some manga for ideas on panel flow and character dynamics. She’s so insightful; it’s no wonder Josh admires her. They spent half the meeting debating whether slice-of-life stories can be as impactful as action-packed epics. It was adorable.
Sasha added her own twist by suggesting we study old pulp fiction covers for mood and aesthetic. Her idea for “Mystery Rangers” is shaping up to be a dark, gritty thriller with supernatural elements. I love how unique her style is—it’s like she brings this whole other energy to the group.

**Day 9: Josh's Confession**
Dear Diary,
Something big happened today—Josh finally admitted to me that he has feelings for Lilly! He pulled me aside after class, pacing nervously, and just blurted it out. He’s worried she doesn’t see him that way, but I told him to go for it. Life’s too short to play it safe.
We worked on “Duby Duby” together after, and I could tell his mind wasn’t entirely on the comic. Even so, his ideas for the next chapter were great. He wants to include a storyline about a character trying to find their place in a creative group, which is so obviously inspired by his current feelings.
Spy, of course, made some snarky comment about romance being a distraction. Meanwhile, he was texting Ruby all through the meeting. Hypocrite.

**Day 10: First All-Nighter**
Dear Diary,
We pulled our first all-nighter of the semester, working on our comics. Blake is so focused when he’s drawing—it’s like he’s in another world. He finished the first three character designs for “Rogue Casters,” and they’re incredible.
Sasha surprised us by showing up with coffee and snacks. She’s officially part of the crew now, and it feels like she’s been here forever. She and Spy got into a heated debate about whether plot or character development is more important, and I swear the entire coffee shop was listening.
Josh started writing the first script for “Duby Duby,” and Lilly helped him polish it. They stayed behind after everyone else left, and when I peeked back in, they were laughing together over something on his laptop. Maybe he’s finally making his move?

**Day 11: A Break in the Routine**
Dear Diary,
We decided to take a break from comics today and just hang out. The weather was perfect, so we had a picnic on the quad. Blake brought his camera and took some great candid shots of everyone.
Spy played soccer with some guys from his dorm, and Ruby came to watch. She and I talked for a while, and she admitted she likes Spy but wishes he’d open up more. I told her to give him time—he’s stubborn, but he cares deeply.
Josh and Lilly sat under a tree, sharing headphones and listening to music. They’re practically a couple already; it’s just a matter of time.
Sasha didn’t join us but texted later to ask if we’d want to storyboard “Mystery Rangers” this weekend. She’s definitely the most serious about her project, which makes me want to step up my game with “Dirty Pop.”

**Day 12: A Spark for Spy**
Dear Diary,
Spy surprised us today. During our brainstorming session, he actually opened up about his storyline for “Mason Trails.” He wants to explore themes of loneliness and connection through his protagonist, which is way deeper than I expected from him.
Ruby showed up halfway through the meeting, and Spy practically lit up. She gave him a notebook as a gift, saying it reminded her of him. It’s small, but I think it meant a lot to him.
Blake, meanwhile, has been experimenting with digital art for “Rogue Casters.” He’s a perfectionist, always pushing himself to improve. I admire his dedication, but I hope he doesn’t burn out.
---
**Day 13: Group Dynamics**
Dear Diary,
It’s interesting watching how the group dynamics are shifting. Sasha is becoming more comfortable with us, even joking around with Spy. She has this dry sense of humor that catches you off guard.
Josh and Lilly continue to be inseparable. Today, they started outlining a short side story for “Duby Duby” about two friends who accidentally fall in love. Subtle, right?
Spy keeps trying to act like he’s too cool to care about Ruby, but he brought up her notebook idea at least three times today. Blake and I just exchanged knowing looks.
I’ve been working on the first draft of “Dirty Pop” and getting feedback from everyone. It’s intimidating sharing something so personal, but their support makes it easier.

**Day 14: Weekend Adventure**
Dear Diary,
We decided to take a break from campus life and explore the city today. There’s this amazing comic shop downtown, and we spent hours browsing. Blake found some rare graphic novels, and Spy picked up an old pulp magazine for inspiration.
Josh and Lilly wandered off on their own, which we all teased them about later. They just laughed it off, but there’s definitely something there.
Sasha surprised us by suggesting we hit up a local art exhibit after the comic shop. The exhibit was all about surrealism, and it sparked a ton of ideas for “Mystery Rangers.”
It was one of those days where everything feels right—good friends, creative energy, and a sense that we’re all part of something bigger than ourselves.

Let me know if you’d like the story to keep going! I can cover every day systematically or condense into weekly highlights as the semester progresses.
