A warning to not be scammed at a too good to be true job opportunity.
Man, o, man, some bitch literally tried to scam me posing to be someone from Manticore Games. They do an "in text interview" with a bogus HR rep James Karras(who does actually exist but yet is not behind this scam) from the company- without ever considering if you even have the qualifications for the game. Major red flag which they try to fill the logical gap with the excuse that there will be training. They continue on and surely make you think you won the lottery with your interview skills. A great warning is that they never say, " we will get back to you with our decision".
They just go forward a few days in a real logical situation if they did give a flipping fuck to review their decisions or anyone that they are hiring. Honestly; there are even more red flags before and the after. They should be asking for your resume, your portfolio and just anything of a video interview should have been in place for the job to even be legitimate. Alas; they explain the conditions of the job as if you have won the lottery. Get paid $65 dollars a hour and its flexible hours? In a video game industry( come on but I somewhat fell for it though there was a great suspicion), You get to do this job remotely and there will only be one zoom meeting a month? There will be training that you will take even if you don't have 3D skills? Thus the mentioning of 3D skills when there were none previously listed in the job capacity and roles-at the ending of this interview is a red flag. As well as the decline in grammar and the sentences being very badly construed where you think this HR person is under alot of stress and making unintentional errors. Yet they aren't and are pieces of fucking shit.
The worst shit. Is that once you think you are in; they try to make you deposit a check that will ultimately just bounce(not that I added it to my banking). I was thinking real hard on this; why don't they just send you the equipment that you will need? They try to then stress that you need to cash the check in one day's time when the check will last at least 60 days. Ultimately this whole thing is red flag when earlier they explained you would be given direct deposits. Yet revert and walk back that statement because they would need your social security number and people would be afraid then of them. The thing is that they ask you to confer money that they will just be able to take away from you and furthermore continually pester you on a financial front. So yea, do not respond to any random emails that claim to be asking for artists unsolicited. If you did not apply to their actual website, and they suddenly appear in your email-it is a scam. The lengths and levels scammers are going to complete their scams is very disgusting. You would have to be studying the company and videogame companies in general to even come up with the shit they ask.
A big red flag is the element in the interview where they just say " good, great or impressive". No one in real life will just say one sentence in response to your question. Namely, this person put alot of effort and alot of work into this scam. They asked you a basic graphic design question on how to achieve the color you want in printed pictures and the answer would be pantones but who gives a fuck. I mean, they also ask about perspective as if these questions actually matter to much of the higher complexities of character design in a videogame. They don't. If anything they should be asking you if you have ever worked in 3d before and things of that nature if going for such questions. They impersonated an innocent individual and namely if you actually check the manticore games site-this job fill is basically a rip on their Lead Character Design position which is open.
I think that I have had a very unpleasant experience with this and feel very mocked right now. I have learned that you should never respond to these emails. Never deposit checks to be doing a "job". In a world were paypal and other things exist that should not be happening. You see no paypal or anything like that; its not a real job. No one is going to give you a job without knowing who you really are or actually video interviewing you and taking time to assess your background and is not going to give you money through a check at all. Namely not even without making you sign agreements either first to ensure that you don't go off with their stuff.
If you see the following do not interact, also gamer companies usually have a banner or some graphic design in their emails, so be warned about these emails which have none of those elements. The main reason off the bat this is fake is because it comes from "@sendfoxmail.com" and not Manticore's real company email. I find it odd that a HR would be in charge of things so yea. Be warned. If you see the following scam in your email; do not follow through.
