Books that will probably never have a movie series.
Leven Thumps, Pendragon, the Tapestry,Children of the Lamp; these are all titles I grew up with reading. There was great hype around movie adaptations for these series at one time or another but safely to say; these works probably will not be adapted into movies or movies fans would watch and enjoy. The Hunger games kinda of killed the whole novel type book thing and rather these stories were better written choices for movies in my opinion and everyone got swept up into the Hunger Games phenomenon. I am not going to go into each series in detail but each one was basically a better deal for the craft of movies than the Hunger games let me tell you. You would want to see characters in these stories portrayed on the screen. These stories had meaning, depth and characters and devices that were like much better than the plot device of the Hunger games let me tell you. Hunger Games basically collapsed the whole novel movie adaption of teenage oriented works. It was a shame and really just maybe if these stories had gotten adapted first that movie scene would have been around.
Leven Thumps is about a boy who gets transported to Foo, a world when he enters a pool of water. I forget how he ends up there but anyways the story is something amazing with amazing characters and talk of the mystical and dreams in a cool sense. There were movie talks since 2011 and nothing ever became of this really. Always to say the work is pre production at a glance at the wikipedia page but really its not moving ahead at all. Really much can say there is not going to be a Leven Thumps movie anytime soon.
Pendragon is about a boy who begins adventures across ten worlds thanks to his uncle and basically features him and other travelers battling to defeat Saint Dane and his terrible plans. This is one of my favorite books of all time. The ending is somewhat a realistic one and leaves no lose ends at all. The sum of its stories over ten books would make for an excellent movie series. Yet for one reason or another the work has never seen a true day of light in even a real movie announcement or anything such.
Children of the Lamp; a book I started reading in the fifth grade and would get a book every year it was available for Christmas of this series many times. About two twins who djinn and must find about their powers and the world at large and defeat the evil djinn's plans-the ifrit usually in the book series or someone or other threat. I liked this series because it respects the true story of the djinn and does not relate to American ideals of Genies - it shows the true culture of people and really that djinn is the correct name for genies. Learned so much from this book if not other cultures presented within the book as the twins travel the world with their uncle. With I can say is that while Paramount at one time maybe in 2013 was going to try to adapt the series-6 years have gone by and nothing has happened.
The Tapestry Hound of Rowan; This book of the Tapestry series could have very much as well been adapted into a movie. People argue its too close to hogwarts but the later series is really dark and serious and really the main character becomes a one man army with his friend magician against demons that one movie maybe close to Harry Potter would win the day but no gambit at all. No movie announcement. Not even a hit. Nothing at all.
These books while apart of mine and other well read people's reading experience probably will not have movie series at all even though they have a huge following of fans just wishing for that to be all but done.
