Sliders' author sucks at writing dimensions.
Greatly, the deeper I research the Sliders work in its origins and filming just means I get closer to understanding that the led creator is just a psuedo visionary who thinks he actually is a good writer and worse thinks he is the moral catalyst when no one goes to tv for "morals and virtues". You go to it for entertainment. He recently of last year had the gall to step out of his hick comfort place to say essentially that it is wrong for people of color to be represented and have their stories told without the white main character framing. That people doing this is just political correct and that no one could enjoy these stories and acts as if these things are immoral. Dare claim people be "hypersensitive". Rather in his own words,
“So I can already tell you that people are so hypersensitive to so many issues now that it’s going to be even more of a challenge trying not to turn it into some politically correct, ‘safe’ show. If it becomes that, what’s the point of doing it?” he added. “That’s gonna be the big struggle.”
Greatly, I think this dude deeply wants to imply that he is doing good by not being woke but really is just an insensitive ass who just wants to promote racism, bigotry and that the whole hatred against people who aren't white by white 40 year old somethings who watched the show is validated. I think that the dude is an idiot because obviously everything has corporate oversight. You think people are going to even let you have a show when you have a track record of being gravely ignorant. In the same speech argued that he could not do some ideas in the past. In his own words,
"“To answer your question about what it’s like in this day and age [creating a show], the first thing that I noticed is how we’re all hypersensitive about politics now,” Tormé observed. “I thought I had a tough time 20 years ago or whenever it was…getting certain stories off the ground in Sliders. And it’s much worse now.”"
I think really much this dude would have just made some really racist drivel in the past in the show if he was allowed to just do as he did. I think that if corporate powers did intervene as he greatly implies here-they did it so that he would not offend the audience. Quiet suddenly folks, you should realize that not only white psuedo intellectuals watched this show-you would call them nerds but akin I think the prior phrase is apt. The show basically aired in primetime tv on Fox. Anyone could have watched and so many people from many backgrounds watched it on SyFy. I am really to say that he is a basically a Trump hiding out somewhere. He does not even remember how long ago he create the show Sliders aka, " whenever it was". O, I am to tell you that really much a person should be fearful of language like, " we are all hypersensitive about politics now". Let me fucking say this; if you cannot leave your damn house without someone targeting you for your skin color-I don't think you would be hypersensitive at all but fucking afraid for your life. Its these things of grave insenstivity makes me fearful for the stories this dude would spawn.
Let me say that the writing on the show was never that great and frankly it is very bad by any writing standards of any time period. You don't see any real beginning, middle or end. Literally the 1st season ending can be considered what? A conclusion to the work itself if you did not watch the rest and would be much better than what came before that. I will come back to the part of the 1st season to tell how even its writing is bad. Yes, there is a conclusion in the 2nd season where the Sliders actually return home but instead of checking shit out just decide to jump into another portal. The fucking logistics of the decision of keep on jumping to world to world is at odds with any real sensibilities of a real person who actually built a device that could go to different worlds. I mean; the main character who creates the dimension device and method has to be one of the most dumb fucking characters of them all. He literally should not even have invited people over to see his damn experiment until he got it off the ground in being safe and sound. He literally passes up many opportunities at this point in the 2nd volume to even utilize another him's dimension device and really much goes home and does not have anything to gather information about the world for him or anything that navigates home for him. He does not even assume to check the world out but just gives into feeling and says, " because my gate to my house does not creak, its not my world".
That is the most dumb unscientific shit ever imaginable. I am just going to base my survival on a hunch. It turns out the assistant to the house did fix the gate so it did not creak. This was meant to give some impetutus to the story but really it was a dumb fucking move because literally that was the one chance to leave a so called prototype stage of the story into better things. Moving into better things would have prevented disasters like the Kromaggs being introduced. I am that really much the characters aren't that smart in the story least the writer wants to be to not escape their limited means of understanding of the dimensional concept and bare bones reality itself. Do you actually leave your house without a way home? You don't even people who had only maps or just the sun and the moon knew how to get home on their boats. Like damn-this 2nd point had a lot of missed opportunities and greatly could be the conclusion if this was a stand alone movie type thing and would be tons of better than the bullshit later. The 3rd conclusion can literally be at the end of the 2nd volume where the stories declined very much. I think that pretty much this ending lacked any capable understanding of a concept of alternate worlds and just made the concept do whatever it wished that made no fucking sense. A dimension where time goes backwards? I think that if your device was to be running from a world of forward time that the people inside the device's parameters to be sent to another realm would be straight up murdered or suffer grave ill effects.
What is to say they would not age backwards to where they could not exist at all? Its this conclusion that literally shows that the show really does need to either end or get a better undertsanding of things. The plot? It introduces a new character that is only important because the writers think the viewers need to care about the main character Quinn's childhood crush? It really added nothing to the story and solved absolutely nothing. Maybe if the show was about reaching Quinn's crush from the start that would have been something to build up to in a prototype phase type of way. You cannot have Batman without his viligante start and cheap costumes/prototype costumes as shown in Batman Year 0 and Year 1. The story just needed to try to add energy into a dying idea. To be said 90s shows did not know what they were doing unless they actually knew what they were doing. Its to be said Sliders fumbled in the dark trying to reach for a good storyline but failed so many times, three times by this account. If handled by a good writer these logical conclusions could have been arcs to continue the story whereas in the actual; they led to the decline. There would be one more conclusion of sorts and yes its in the 3rd volume's mid point where the people actually get help to go to alternate worlds and don't really reason that they should go home then and there and that be that! Instead they let a mad man escape into the multiverse saving few lives from a poorly written dying world and the story is never picked up again! This part displays some of the most egerious and terrible writting that marx is anti logical and anti sciencitific.
Let me fucking tell you people; nebula stars or pulse stars or stars that exist in outer space just cannot come to any planet furthest from them and destroy them in the course of years let alone days. No, these things would never come to any planet at all. I mean the show is very stupid in making high stakes things that are insufferably unnessecary, not fun and just stupid. Its at this fourth point where one main cast member is killed off in the most stupid way; I think its telling of how bad the writing at this point is. Whilst the creator would be kicked off after this point by his own "definance against the corporates"; this is literally the true end of the story. The 4th and final conclusion really had the chance to have been a great arc if the story had gotten out of the prototype stage by any of the other previous logical endings to the story it set up. I think enough that the story had go great beginning, middle or end. The beginning lasted so long till the end of the story because one; the characters never actually returned home to resolve anything as they should have originally. The story improperly shifts its beginning premise to be a lesser cheap sci fi story where it was trying to be a realist alternate dimension story.
On that note; I return to the first season which really much sucks ass trying to even be realistic when they focus so much on history-a great thing they suck at understanding so much that all the stuff they hinge on historical "hinge points" really would not hinge at those points and really how these things happened in history were very much more complex than which than they can even understand. Speaking of hinge points or rather places people focus on making an alternate change in visualization of how things could have gone; the work really much ignores the characters having any great lives or anything else being different. There are so many things a person could have done if they actually researched in the terms of businesses and inventions but really it all neglected that and as well any aspects of the characters and the world they live in to do anything. Foremost the world the characters live in is never developed too much to even give any great impact into the story. Who actually cares if these characters who are ever clearly defined well even get home but to marvel at the odyseey of alternate dimensions even appearing in a tv show? The world the characters live in is bland and the main character Quinn has no real motivation but to travel the alternate worlds. The writer and creator of this series foremost could never create anything convincing about this dude being that because they suck at writing.
Modern people know of works that have better alternate dimension capacities; like Re-Zero which freaking has a teenage boy just going to a convenience store as the base of the story before he travels and somehow makes the story interesting by the plot device in which he travels worlds which is not in any great way but death. I am to say the story tries to later develop these characters as the series goes on but its too late by then. I have seen a movie called Parallel and then another called Parallels and then another show called Parallel on Disney + that actually can develop characters better than this show ever does at all. I think it would have been nice to know that Quinn had this crush from middle school that moved away and maybe that could have been his motive forward. I think enough the creator was too caught up on their self concept of realistic alternate worlds which indeed is not a feasible idea when the author is ignorant of the complexities of history, the many people in it and the people resulting of it. I think I need to tell people that there would be no modern day hispanics if spainards never came to the Americas with african slaves. I think as well this writer was hitting so far above his pay grade its no wonder the executives thought he was not compotent and asked for changes. I think this dude rested too much on his laurels and thought that he was the best but surely no one knows who he even is. Out of touch with reality, I am to say saying all this is this creator when their original work was not even good.
I think the episodes were fun if you had an open mind. I watched the show with an open mind and tried to envision myself in these created worlds but yet this work had a lacking depth in its worlds and even cupablity of them that I could never imagine myself in them but just browsing these things like wannabe 80s hits in the olde dusky record shop that is about to get foreclosed on. The ideas were plenty trash if taking them seriously and really much were childish. For no one reason would think; let's make a world where women rule everything but frankly just make everything about women replacing men and acting like them instead of actually being women and doing things that women would do. It was pure parody and not an alternate dimension really much. Just because you see something that could be a great point does not mean there is any real cupable reality behind it when everything is strictly one dimensional and unbelievable and only written to thinly imagine oneself having empathy for women and thinking this is how they would be not even asking women what things they would do if women were in so called "dominance in society". I really am to say the dumb posturing of imagination in the creator's eyes is just a sad attempt at a really closed off, unempatethic and unimaginative individual to be engaging in an idea that he has not clue how it even functions. Really much is posturing psuedo genuis on alternate dimensions greatly because he thinks he understands the concept better than everyone else. In interviews and even youtube videos talking about his interactions with the executives he says, " they don't understand anything about alternate dimensions".
I think that is projection because the creator bit off more than he could chew. Ideally folks, the episodes of the first volume where just the start of an "ideal America is Great" motif and really dumped on Russia even being a place to live but just a place for a theme of "communism" and really not even understand what communism means. The story where Russia takes over America easily could have been Russia colonized America instead of America but literally you have to go to the most uninformed rhetoric of them all. I am to say that greatly; the work of the show Sliders just has this " ideal America is Great" motif throughout that literally frowns on people of color, rap, and any true knowledge of history, communism, the immigration process and its troubles and very much many things about writing a dimension hoping story and if not just a good story. The fun of the first volume of course declines over time as you get to the end and really much the end of that season is a missed opportunity to even explore a fifth member to the team. I am to say that the creator never had an objective mind to even explore dimensions as they should be done; logically and impartially but instead made everything about this nasty " ideal America is Great theme". Guess what that theme translates to nearly 30 years later? " Make America Great Again". Really much is not fooling anyone especially people who were greatly discounted in the show because they were people of color and so where their experiences. To even tackle the lacking respresentation and even seeing people as people on this show would be another thing but the one thing is to be said that the one black character on the show is pretty much a means of a tolken Black character and really much just goes along with this " Make America Great again" predecessor nonsense. There is a great reason why this show would fail. The author thinks they are compotent at what they write of dimensions when they aren't at all. In fact normal reality is just a challenge for them when black people can never run a world but surely Planet of the Ape rip offs can.
