Speed does not make the easel.
Some days ago I saw a post talking to people how they should realize their efforts are too big from them. That tried to break down the effort it would take to make a 200 page or more manga. The thing I think is important to realize my mates is that the person who is even writing is not a real experienced creator. Its not as if mangaka 200 + chapters is speaking to you. No, its some person who barely has two chapters up and ultimately; you should not listen to them. That is what you should know. Dreams are the foundation of creation. Dreaming gives you power. Pragmatism can help you, yes but at the end of the day its dreams and pragmatism that make the ace. I used to make the same mistakes as this person. Trying to calculate what it would take each day to get something done.
In perspective; I do much more work that this person. There were days I worked on 25 works alone. This is giving that they had different parameters. This is to realize I was not going for a manga but for a 4 page comic. That is possible with 25 works. They just struggle with one fucking work and I am to say that they struggle; it is because its beyond their means.
I mean people are taught to write essays but never books. But you should realize that a manga is but a book with pictures and well people have not been taught the language or know how to create a manga or a comic. When we are at school, people are first taught letters, then words, then to write a sentence, then complex sentences, then paragraphs and then essays. People usually learn to write a book theirselves as its not taught. What I am saying is that people do not give theirselves time to learn to anything about comics nor about theirselves. People are stuck at level 2, which is just drawing pictures aka writing words. They have not even reached the level of making a sentence. People punish theirselves for the lack of no how and it does not help the creative process but harms it.
Ever realize that you don't have to make a manga at all. I mean I would not label my works manga giving to how the Japanese don't actually like foreigners and deem them unworthy to even sale their works in their country. I mean; if you really want to be successful-you need to dispense with these childlike ideas of what success is. Success is to continue to create unabated. To have rights over your works and how it is created. It also to have ease in creation. Comics is the only industry where people want to say that it takes forever to make a pizza. It does not. You think it takes a person who makes a pizza ten years to make it when in actuality the real range of creation is one day or some hours depending on the pizza? I am just saying that people on these types of posts just give alot of bullshit excuses to why they cannot get shit done. The answer is simple. You are not literate in comics. You want to create a book when you cannot even write a sentence.
Exercises help people learn and just maybe starting out small is what you should look for. You honestly think a person who has never written a sentence is going to write a book? No, its not going to happen. People who even do create today mostly are just doing it out of a mystery will that does evaporate. Then people reboot and reboot and its a vicious cycle. They never learned and so what can they do. Waste time creating one work that will never reach any real potential as they are not literate. They don't know how to make a sentence. Everything is just spitballing until a person runs out of steam and that " am I doing it?" gets annoying and just tiresome after a while. Some people convince theirselves they know when they don't.
Getting to another great point is that you can make all the plans of when something will be completed. It means nothing when you know nothing really and cannot practice to make it better. Make comics is alot like running. You have to read other works and draw time and time again but in a certain way. Its not just speed as if you are running. Its speed with directive. I am to tell you that you can say you do this and that in a hour or this and that but you don't really know all of that when your average is at best crappy. A person who is out of shape will literately say anything is good to make good on the fact they exercised. But to a person who is in shape; they literate have only walked a few steps and turned around. To me; most of these internet commentaries are just written by out of shape and untrained people who cannot read comics and aren't literate. Reading in this sense actually means make. You should not listen to these people. The thing is folks; you need to start small to actually get big. Not everything needs to be an epic. Not everything needs to be a manga. It could just be four pages each serial for 25 serials and that is it at the start. But people do not understand truly not even that poster of that comment that you are setting yourself up for failure if you do not first learn. You will never get there if you do not have a good foundation but keep floundering. Rebooting for every new trend and idea when that is just bad story telling and planning.
Greatly its better to have something than to have nothing.
